Flickr Friday

First of all, apologies for the downtime over the last 24 hours, we had a huge amount of traffic to the site within a very short time, it managed to overload the CPU on the server and promptly crashed it. Unfortunately we only noticed the problem this morning, hopefully now everything should be back to normal and working fabulously.

  1. ..coffee apron.. by Harley - The housewife in me has a secret longing for a beautiful apron like this, unfortunately I know that it would be covered in baby puke and nutella hand prints within minutes! Harley’s embroidery on this is just beautiful, the little stitches are so neat!
  2. Quilted Patchwork bag by Corinne - I love the fabric choices here, and even better Corinne has also very kindly shared her tutorial for the bag :D
  3. Christmas Star Ornament by TheKraftyKrew - I am constantly amazed with what you can do with machine embroidery, this tree ornament looks fab.
  4. Tree Decoration by Edward and Lilly - Not just for Christmas, these would look great hanging from shelves, or with some essential oils dropped on them to make your drawers smell sweet.
For a chance to be featured in our weekly “Flickr Friday” post and receive some linky love, just head along to Flickr and join the CraftBlog.com.au photo pool, submit your photos and you could see your craft or finished work picked as some of our favourites from the week.

Eventually I will post one of these on a Friday, I promise… just as soon as I find some way to actually find some spare time in between looking after two babies!

  1. Pincushions by Koala Brains - These were made these following the pincushion tutorial, and then KB was hit by inspiration to use the same technique to create a mushroom pincushion (see her thought process here), I love it! I have some red and white polkadot fabric that is now destined for this.
  2. September mini Owl by TwoCheesePlease - I love the idea and look of a collection of mini quilts hanging on the wall, little 10×10 blocks of inspiration! I’m sure Holly’s swap partner was over the moon when this arrived in her postbox.
  3. Embroidery on linen by Edward and Lilly - Linen is such a fab background for embroidery, everything stands out so beautifully, and this plant with French knots is no exception.
  4. Organizer Wristlet by Fanny Tanioes - The thought of sewing something with this many compartments completely overwhelms me! I love the subtle colours in the fabric used for this wristlet purse.

  1. kokeshi doll by Gugy - I’m going through a Japanese phase at the moment (I’m dreading my husband finding out how much I spent this morning on a fabric order from Japan!) and this is just beautiful, there are some other colourways and fabrics on her flickr site.
  2. Hexagon Doll Quilt by Jodie - I need to learn how to do this technique, I love the finished effect on this doll quilt.
  3. ..gnome embroidery.. by Harley - Harley will have to forgive me for thinking that this was Santa on first glance, I am in Christmas mode! I love how a simple doodle can become something wonderful with just a bit of embroidery floss.
  4. Rosette by Katrina - Great use of colour here picking up the red in the mushrooms with the cherries in the fabric and stripe in the ribbon.

  1. home made wreath by Katrina - A superb way to use up scraps, and it doesn’t have to be festive either, your could make this in colours to match your decor and keep it up all year.
  2. Black velvet pinnie by Hoppo Bumpo - I LOVE the use of yo-yos to create the embellishments on this beautiful toddler dress.
  3. bee stickers by Two Cheese Please - I think I’m becoming something of a fan girl of TCP! Not only am I insanely jealous of the time she has available to create, but of her awesome talent, I think she’s shown up in almost every single Flickr Friday so far!
  4. C*Face Chloe by Charm - Embroidery is my latest love, and Charm does a great job on this pattern from Wee Wonderfuls.

If you’d like to see your work featured on CraftBlog just upload it to the CB Flickr group and show it off to the world. Thanks to everyone who uploaded images to the pool whilst I was MIA!

  1. Night-Night Mushrooms by Florence Forrest - Yay for mushrooms! These little guys seem so calm and peaceful, a really beautiful design!
  2. Booties by Ollie Rose - For obvious reasons, I’m all about the baby stuff at the moment, these booties would look adorable on any bub’s feet, they look so soft and cosy.
  3. Laptop Cover by Peata - I’m in awe of anyone who has the patience to do this much blanket stitch, I’m far too impatient! The finished result is superb though, and very practical for keeping a laptop safe.
  4. Reindeer frame by Harley Dee - Is anyone else (other than Harley!) thinking Christmas yet? I’ve been taking advantage of the Christmas fabric sales on Fabric.com and have picked up some stuff to make stockings for the whole family, but that’s about the extent of it!

  1. Hippo by Kate Henderson - I kind of cheated and asked Kate to add this to the pool because I fell in love with this little guy! Just a really beautiful softie.
  2. On my desk… 6 Aug 08 by Two Cheese Please - I really need to get in on this “on my desk” thing, although I’m fairly certain that my pile of scraps some empty Mylanta packets wouldn’t be anywhere near as interesting as some of the posts I see from my favourite crafty blogs.
  3. Horsie by Nuccaleena - This little horse has so much personality, and I love the big stitches and patches covering him.
  4. fabric baby blocks by CurlyPops - Beautiful choice of vintage fabric on these blocks, I think a lot of the time big manufacturers forget that maybe not everyone wants their house covered in primary colours when they have a child, which is why I love finding baby toys with a vintage twist and slightly more muted colours.

  1. Hand-carved stamp swap by Two Cheese Please - Too cute! I also love her stamps, which you can find a tutorial for here, this is on my to do list for this weekend!
  2. sewing machine cover by The Bohlins - From our sewing machine cover tutorial, I love the awesome fringe she used and the fabric is beautiful.
  3. Notebooks by me - We were running low on submissions this week so I actually made something just to put into the pool! Football season is on its way and my husband has a list as long as his arm of football themed crafts that he wants me to complete before September. Of course this was following our notebook cover tutorial!
  4. Kimono Top by Edward and Lilly - I am doomed to just keep on popping out boys and continue lusting over all the beautiful girly clothes, this is beautiful and perfect for a little toddler in summer.

Here are some of my favourites submitted this week to the CraftBlog Pool!

  1. Plaque by Superminx - I’m easy, I have a mild Dachshund obsession, so this was an easy choice for me.
  2. Sashiko Stitching Placemat by HandMaiden - This is the first time I’ve ever seen Sashiko and I’m in love, keep your eye on CB for some more on this in the future.
  3. Pincushions by CurlyPops - You can never have enough pincushions, and these are just too cute :)
  4. Rainbow scarf by Two Cheese Please - She’s not kidding when she says it’s a “slice of sunshine”, such a cheery way to brighten up a winter outfit!

Check out the CB Flickr Pool for more awesome crafts and artwork.

CraftBlog.com.au Flickr Group

July 22nd, 2008 Fern Posted in Flickr Friday, Site News No Comments »

We now have our own group on Flickr!

Go to the CraftBlog.com.au group and join up as a member, you’ll be able to submit your photos of items you’ve created after following tutorials on the site, or just something crafty you’ve thrown together and want to show off to the world! Every week (Flickr Friday! - you see what I did there? :D) we’ll be putting together a “best of” post to showcase our favourite photos and creations from the group.

Hopefully by Friday we’ll have more than four members and more than just my own images in the group, otherwise it’s going to be a fairly self congratulatory Flickr Friday post!
