A few weeks ago I received an email from Kailaasking if I could promote her event in Redfern, Sydney, I’ll let her do the talking… Fabric-a-brac is coming to Sydney! What is it you ask? It’s a fabric sale from lovers of projects, who just have too many projects (er, that would be me then). If you have piles of fabric in your wardrobe, in a cupboard, and you KNOW you’ll never get around to using it. Or you’re looking [...]

Anyone vaguely familiar with Ikea will probably be familiar with the KLIPPAN sofa, the absolute budget 2.5 seater that sells for $279 at the store. To celebrate 30 years of KLIPPAN Ikea has enlisted 30 Australian artists to design new slip covers for the sofa. The resulting pieces, featuring everything from industrial plastic meshing to granny square blankets found in op-shops, will be auctioned off with the proceeds going towards the Victorian Bushfire relief effort. Check out all of the [...]

I’ve been listening to the buzz on twitter about this show for a few days now, and only this morning did I get a chance to check it out. The work is absolutely wonderful, and for a movie buff like myself it’s a dream. The show features artwork inspired by cult movie classics such as The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory and many more. Everything from traditional family portraits of “The Torrences” from The Shining [...]

I’m sure most crafty Aussies are familiar with The Mirabel Foundation through Meet Me At Mike’s annual softie drive, a wonderful Melbourne based charity doing amazing work with children who have had a rough start to life. Mirabel assists children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use and are now in the care of extended family (kinship care). Mirabel believes that every child deserves a childhood and its mission is to break the destructive cycle [...]

Just got an email through from Fabric.com saying that they have an additional 20% off of clearance fabrics, with free shipping to the US. If you’re in Australia (or any other postage outside of The US) they can fit 6 yards into a flat rate envelope for $15. Just add the code “ADCL9″ into the coupon box at the counter. The sale only runs until midnight US eastern time on 24th of November (If my maths is correct, that’s 4pm [...]

Helen got in touch to tell me about the BrisStyle Christmas markets in Hamilton on the 13th of December. It looks to be a fabulous collection of shops so if you’ve taken the handmade pledge this year and are maybe running a bit short for time (as if!) then it might be an excellent opportunity to pick up some Christmas gifts for friends and family. Location: Hamilton Town Hall, Cnr Rossiterand Racecourse Rd, Hamilton, Brisbane Date: Saturday 13th December 2008 [...]

If anyone is at home (and unlike me can convince your children that they want to watch Channel Nine instead of Nick Jr.), Amy Butler will be on Mornings With Kerri-Anne all morning doing a walk through for a cushion… I think! I only caught the end of the intro so I’m a bit sketchy on the details, but the cushion looks awesome, and it should be interesting to see the creative process behind her sewing patterns Also of note [...]

Just a quick reminder to all you craftsters that the Stitches & Craft Show is on in Sydney from Wednesday 20 August (tomorrow) until Sunday 24 August. There will be lots of demo’s as well as lots of goodies to purchase! (If my wallet wasn’t being so mean to me I’d be there for sure!). Bring your wallet (and credit card), wear comfy shoes, and be prepared to have a blast! (I usually tend to get lost within the bead [...]

Hi, I'm FernHi, I'm Fern and CraftBlog is my online home. I live in NSW with my husband and three sons, and spend every moment of my free time with my head buried in some form of creativity. In fact, I've never met a craft I didn't like, although I think I've tried a fair few that probably weren't too keen on me. Want to know more?
