Here’s looking forward to a fresh year filled with craft, inspiration and beautiful design. Thank you everyone who has visited the site, the businesses that have participated in giveaways, everyone who’s linked to and written about CB and everyone that has commented and sent me emails. Your support is awesome, and keeps me going when the last thing I want to do is even try and think of a tutorial or take photos of what I’ve made. I’ll be migrating [...]

I’m kicking myself for not thinking of this before Christmas as a gift for my crafty Mum, it’s so easy, took about half an hour to whip up and the finished result is awesome. So if you need a place to keep stray needles and have a few selvedges laying around, read on! Apologies in advance for the poor quality of the photos, NSW has been drenched in rain since boxing day so finding any kind of natural light was [...]

My resolution this coming year is to keep up a daily journal of sketches and thoughts for the entire year. Partly so that I can look back and remember exactly what I was doing in 2010, and also as a form of art therapy for depression and some other issues I’m having. I loved this journal, but didn’t want to drop $30 on it, so instead I picked up a Derwent Visual Art Diary for $3 and decorated the front [...]

After all the interest in Declan’s Log Cabin quilt I’ve decided to make Connor’s quilt a community project. For the next few weeks I will be outlining one step a day to lead you to the finished quilt. The entire project can be done within a weekend, but as a busy Mum I know there is no way I can dedicate and entire weekend to sewing, so breaking it down into seven steps and a couple of hours each day [...]

Sara from Creative Jewish Mom posted an fabulous how to with details on creating this beautiful flower bouquet, made entirely from felt! I know we’re in the wrong season, but this would be absolutely perfect for spring, or decorating a little girls room where you want the look of flowers, but don’t want the hassle of buying fresh flowers or dusting artificial ones. I may have also made a mental note to go and pick up some felt in different [...]

Christmas is that time of the year where I firmly subscribe to the “more is more” theory. You can never have enough glitter, sparkles and fake snow as far as I’m concerned, but I lean far more towards fresh bright colours than the traditional reds and greens, and with this in mind I’ve created a round up of my favourite tutorials for modern Christmas decorations. All of them are fairly low cost and are easy enough that you can whip [...]

I’m trying to get up a Christmas tutorial post but I’m battling with the formatting, so that might have to wait till tomorrow I’m afraid. Instead I’m going to give you something inspired by a recent post over at CraftStylish asking Where Do You Find Sewing Advice? We all have go-to people or reference books to help us through those tricky sewing spots. Where do you turn when the sewing gets tough? Do you have a favorite sewing book, website, [...]

I’m crazy happy about finishing this little beauty up over the weekend. I ended up taking the time to hand sew the binding and it was very much worth the effort, it’s far more precise than I could have ever managed on my machine and some hand sewing in front of some movies (Welcome To The Jungle and Terminator Salvation for those that are interested!) was very relaxing. I promise the edges are straight, it’s just my husband that is [...]

Hi, I'm FernHi, I'm Fern and CraftBlog is my online home. I live in NSW with my husband and three sons, and spend every moment of my free time with my head buried in some form of creativity. In fact, I've never met a craft I didn't like, although I think I've tried a fair few that probably weren't too keen on me. Want to know more?
