Etsy Inspired By Where The Wild Things Are
Thursday, October 8, 2009 20:47The final post in the Where The Wild Things are series before the giveaway on friday features some of the fab handcrafted items from Etsy that have been inspired by Maurice Sendak’s book.

Elaine made this cute little monster pendant from sterling silver, it was created for a Canadian exhibition featuring work inspired by the book, and displayed with a matching Max in a terrarium.

Munsters&Cupcakes features this awesome custom made Moishe hat, available in both child and adult sizes, great for Halloween but I think it’s cute enough that kids could get away with wearing this all year round.

Nan Lawson created this hand inked and then digitally coloured print of the king of the wild things, Max, not looking quite so wild as he’s normally pictured! I love the sense of calmness in this print.

Carissa has created a wolf tail for any real life Maxes out there, there’s still time to order one before Halloween, all you need is some footsy PJs and the hat featured in yesterday’s post and you’re set to go!

I’ve saved my absolute favourite for last, I have fond memories of “quiet time” with various felt play sets, scenes featuring schools and hospitals, and as great as there were they were never as awesome as this one! This has massive scope for imaginative play for kids and for retelling their own version of Max’s trip to visit the wild things, check out the full felt kit here.
Hope you’ve enjoyed our saunter through the crafts and pieces of art that have been inspired by Where The Wild Things are, tune in tomorrow for a book giveaway – no prizes for guessing what the book is!
