A couple of days ago I discovered the joys of paper piecing, it’s something I’d seen before but I’d written it off as being too much work and too time intensive, allow me now to take that all back! I made up Sonja Callaghan’s Gnomlette within half an hour and the results are, if I do say so myself, absolutely awesome. There’s a bit more info about it and some more pictures on my personal blog.

Looking around the wonder that is the interwebs I found Sew Hooked, a site dedicated to some superb, very modern, art blocks. There’s a real focus on fandom here, so if you’re into Harry Potter, Star Wars or even Twilight, there’s several patterns for you to make up, whether it’s an individual block or a king size Harry Potter quilt!

I also love this crazy twist pattern, it’s definitely on my to-do list, but I think I might practise with some simpler patterns before jumping into that one!

If you’re more interested in traditional designs, Paper Panache has a wide range of freebies as well as patterns to buy.

Piece By Number has some very cute designs. I really like this Iris, if enlarged it could be the centre of a bigger quilt, or make a mini quilt from it.

And finally if you want to add some words to a larger quilt, or make a dolls quilt with a saying on it then this 2 inch tall paper pieced alphabet would be perfect
