This morning whilst wandering around the Lincraft website (yay for vouchers!) I stumbled on these, multifunction scissors. The blue ones include a retractable craft knife in one of the blades, the red ones include a tapemeasure snuck into the handles. I’m very torn on these, part of me is thinking that it’s an awesome multitasker that would make the folks over at Unclutterer proud, the other part of me thinks that, as someone who is notorious for forgetting where I [...]

rainbow fish scales by Lynn – I think I audibly squeed when I saw this, there are clearer pictures on Lynn’s blog but I loved this detail shot of the Rainbow Fish’s scales. Lynn also runs a group on flickr dedicated to needlework inspired by children’s literature, there are some beautiful pieces of work on there! baby booties, by Rebecca – I love these little felt booties, the pattern she used is from Martha Stewart and can be found here. [...]

It’s been a sad couple of weeks in the world of Aussie Memes! Within a few days of each other both Angela of Three Buttons and Kirsty of KooToYoo announced that they were bringing their respective Memes to a close. I’d never played On My Desk, mainly because I can barely find my sewing machine on it, let alone take beautiful photos of what I was working on like the other players, and I was only two posts into This [...]

Pixels and Ice Cream is to thank for the brushes used in the new CB header and layout. I discovered Jen’s site via stumbleupon a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with her designs. If you’re interested in graphic design, Photoshop or digital scrap-booking then her blog is stuffed full of resources for both personal and commercial use. Even though Jen has only had the blog up for four months there’s a great range of photoshop brushes, patterns [...]

My eldest son has just made the move from his high chair and onto a booster seat at “the big table”, yay for creating more space by putting the high chair in the garage (at least for a few more months until his younger brother needs it!), less of a yay for my dining table constantly being under a barrage of crumbs, melted cheese and sticky pesto. So, as with most tutorials on here, out of necessity I made up [...]

Just got an email through from Fabric.com saying that they have an additional 20% off of clearance fabrics, with free shipping to the US. If you’re in Australia (or any other postage outside of The US) they can fit 6 yards into a flat rate envelope for $15. Just add the code “ADCL9″ into the coupon box at the counter. The sale only runs until midnight US eastern time on 24th of November (If my maths is correct, that’s 4pm [...]

Helen got in touch to tell me about the BrisStyle Christmas markets in Hamilton on the 13th of December. It looks to be a fabulous collection of shops so if you’ve taken the handmade pledge this year and are maybe running a bit short for time (as if!) then it might be an excellent opportunity to pick up some Christmas gifts for friends and family. Location: Hamilton Town Hall, Cnr Rossiterand Racecourse Rd, Hamilton, Brisbane Date: Saturday 13th December 2008 [...]

A couple of days ago I discovered the joys of paper piecing, it’s something I’d seen before but I’d written it off as being too much work and too time intensive, allow me now to take that all back! I made up Sonja Callaghan’s Gnomlette within half an hour and the results are, if I do say so myself, absolutely awesome. There’s a bit more info about it and some more pictures on my personal blog. Looking around the wonder [...]

Pink Pincusion by Angelica – I promise this isn’t just here because of my minor obsession with vintage Singers I’ve never used a wrist pin cushion before for fear of stabbing myself, but seeing this might just persuade me otherwise. Based on this pincushion tutorial. Pink pom pom by Leah – CB’s very own, usually craft inept, Leah made this for her daughter’s upcoming birthday, so simple but very very effective, they look awesome! Good old Martha has churned out [...]

Hi, I'm FernHi, I'm Fern and CraftBlog is my online home. I live in NSW with my husband and three sons, and spend every moment of my free time with my head buried in some form of creativity. In fact, I've never met a craft I didn't like, although I think I've tried a fair few that probably weren't too keen on me. Want to know more?
