As we’re coming to realise Melbourne is a craft mecca! Not only are there an abundance of crafty folk out there blogging for all to see there is also a wonderful craft market community.

Here in the inner city in the last few weeks we’ve been lucky enough to have quite a few markets running, the Sisters’ Market, Rose St Market and the Melbourne Design Festival Market (now a biannual event!). This weekend the Shirt and Skirt Markets are being held at Abbotsford Convent as well as the Magnolia Square Market in Malvern. And let’s not forget when winter is over the Craft Mafia Market will be back (fingers crossed!).

What about your area? Are there any amazing craft artisan markets we should know about?

I’m all for a road trip so tell me what markets I’m missing out on and I’ll see what I can do about reviewing them!

And don’t forget about our lovely neighbours in all the other states… I’m sure they’re keen to find out too!

Hmmmm, will have to get back to you on any craft markets in Colorado. They are usually seasonal. Lots around Christmas. October through December really. Sounds like they keep you busy in Melbourne. Fun!

oooooh I’d love to find out if there are any crafty indie type markets in Sydney. Sydney totally needs to get more creative!

I love Sydney, but right now I feel like it’s really lacking in a decent craft scene, maybe I’m just out of the loop, but everything happens in Melb! Sydneysiders, please prove me wrong!

Looks like I found one in NSW!

The Olive Tree Market in Newcastle on Saturday 6 September.

I’ll even be in Sydney that weekend so I might be able to make the trip up there to check it out!

Hey! The Craft Cartel Market WILL be back! Soon even! We’re planning a bike themed craft market to coincide with the Bike Film Festival later in the year. And we’ve got some super secret renegade ram-raid markets coming to a bizarre location near you soon..

That’s fantastic news! Just thinking about the Bike Film Festival reminds me that summer will be here soon! Am looking forward to finding these bizarre market locations you speak of.

Anyone know of any craft markets happening in Brisbane?

I haven’t been able to find any upcoming markets but I did find a post on BrisStyle (the Brisbane Etsy Street Crew blog) that might be helpful…

Here’s the post Ali suggests you try the local church markets.

Did you get to EKKA? Some of the Brisbane Etsy crew had stalls there which would have been a great opportunity to find out more venues they sell at!

North of the Yarra, there is 9″ X 5″ Quality Makers Market, 2nd Sunday of the month at Banylue Arts Space, 14 Ivanhoe parade, Ivanhoe. Lots of lovely locally-made products by very taleneted artists. Check it out!

Offbeat, retro crafts, clothes and more. Fully licenced, food available, workshops for kids… Stalls still available, cheap!! Info – scavengedstyle@yahoo.com.au

Thanks Deborah for mentioning the Brisbane etsy street team – BrisStyle. They are having their very own Christmas Market on the 13th December at the historic Hamilton Town Hall in Hamilton Brisbane.

It’s going to be loads of fun taking our etsy shops to the streets: Pop over to this link for more info

Hi, I'm FernHi, I'm Fern and CraftBlog is my online home. I live in NSW with my husband and three sons, and spend every moment of my free time with my head buried in some form of creativity. In fact, I've never met a craft I didn't like, although I think I've tried a fair few that probably weren't too keen on me. Want to know more?
