Eeee! A new local artist find, I am a happy woman. Trawling around Etsy this morning I stumbled on to Melbourne based Mara Girling and her beautiful artwork, my jaw hit the floor, Instantly I was drawn to her Animal Stack – my son’s room is a jungle theme so I have a soft spot for animal artworks. I love how simple the prints are and yet manage to cram in so much detail, she has a beautiful whimsical style [...]

Recently I’ve been working from “Mr Funky’s Super Crochet Wonderful” by Narumi Ogawa. I love Amigurumi and Japanese crochet patterns in general, and this little guy begged me to be made when I flicked through the book. Pattern: Mr Funky’s Pretty Little Kitty from Super Crochet Wonderful, the pattern is also available at Narumi Ogawa’s Etsy shop, although I feel that I should say that I find it very odd that she’s selling the “Spunky Funky Monkey” and “Pretty Little [...]

Bells Knits is the personal and knitting blog of the superb Canberrian (did I get that right? It doesn’t sound quite right), Bells. Bells fills her blog with post after post of work in progress pictures of her beautiful knitted projects, and occasionally she even finishes one, she’s also on a one woman mission to remove the guilt that us yarn collectors hold with every new addition to our stash, join her “No Guilt Stash” group and start learning the [...]

Notebook Cover

That’s notebook as in one of those old skool ones, with paper and lines and stuff, as opposed to the laptop type, does anyone remember them? I churn through notebooks at a furious pace, I have lists constantly on the go and a different notebook for every topic. I drool over the beautiful ones you see in the stationary stores but always hold myself back, notebooks are for me to scribble in, I know I would feel guilty defacing a [...]

I love the thought of surrounding myself in handmade items, preferably that I’ve made myself, and to me nothing seems better than sleeping underneath something that I’ve spent months creating, which is what turned me on to quilting about a year ago. Unfortunately I didn’t think this plan through very well, I’m not a very precise crafter, and I’m certainly not a patient one, something that I think is required for quilters. So quilt top after quilt top was shoved [...]

Michael Miller has just released his new design range. The “First Sight” fabric line was designed with newborn babies in mind, despite the popularity of pastels and whites for young babies they may not be the most stimulating thing out there. Michael Miller focuses on a newborns sight restrictions, with high contrast colours combined with bold patterns and the results look fabulous. As a pastel hating parent this is a very welcome change, as fabric designers start to realise that [...]

Hi, I'm FernHi, I'm Fern and CraftBlog is my online home. I live in NSW with my husband and three sons, and spend every moment of my free time with my head buried in some form of creativity. In fact, I've never met a craft I didn't like, although I think I've tried a fair few that probably weren't too keen on me. Want to know more?
